Born and raised in Berlin (Germany).
After studying communications at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, with a diploma in design, I made a career as a marketing professional for more than 30 years. In 2004 I turned to photography. Self taught, my interests lie in historical and alternative processes such as cyanotypes, kallitypes, pinhole camera and especially collodion wet plates.
Wet plate collodion photography is time consuming and complicated. There are definitely better ways to shoot photos, so why am I doing it?
Because I get photos that look absolutely unique. The pictures deal with transience of life. And counteract the trivial instagram world of today.
The first Wet Plate Photo is published at Collodion Bastards (look under Frank Hegewald).
